I am still buzzing with energy from Bank of America's Women Ready to Lead event in Dallas last week. This event had me sharing insights to anyone who would listen. In partnership with our employee network LEAD - which has over 29,000 members dedicated to supporting the advancement of women in our company, I cannot think of a better introduction and warm welcome to the firm. Huge thank you to Dan Peril and Brian Angle for extending me this invite. At this amazing event, head of our Private Bank, Katy Knox lead a robust discussion with Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall who drops some gems on us. A few of my personal favorites being: (1)'When you step into a big environment, you must be big'; (2)'You do not need to know the business, to lead'; and (3) The 3 L's of Leadership: Listen / Learn / Love your people. I also want to take a moment and thank Jenny Kim Park, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer. Unbeknownst to me, she personally honored / highlighted me during her address to the entire group, as a new hire to the firm, she urged the women in the room to be committed to my success. Simply put, this is culture. Jenny used her platform to promote others and is living the narrative of Inclusion which her title holds. Lastly, I would not have a seat at that table, let alone be at this amazing firm had it not been for the intentionality of Teresa Patton, Aoife Burke, CFA, Nicola (Nikki) Reeves, Andrea Albright and Nicole Campbell. Thank you ladies for your support as I am filled with gratitude and excitement for what's to come. #WomenLeaders #DiversityandInclusion #LeadershipDevelopment

I was handpicked for the position I’m in.If there’s no other transformation I experience from Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women program it’s this. The energy among the women in the room was electric, and the constant affirmation that we were “handpicked” for this program resonated deeply with me. By the end of the second day, I truly started to believe it.During day two of Orientation, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with fellow women entrepreneurs who are equally serious about their businesses. Working alongside these inspiring women - not just the cohort members, but the coaches, Goldman Sachs staff, advisors - ignited a shift in my thinking and boosted my confidence. I realized how critical it is to approach my brand strategically, with confidence, as I move forward. Two major shifts I’m making as a result of OMBW:☝🏾 Redesign my website based on valuable advice from my business advisor, Dr. V. It’s essential that my online presence reflect the women I want to impact and what they want to see from me.✌🏾Hyper focus and super serve Black female executives and leaders 40+ who are building professional and personal brands. In terms of impact, this program is precisely what I needed to enter 2025 with renewed energy and focus. I’m taking myself out of the mindset of playing small, realizing that I have a significant impact to make in the realm of executive branding. My vision is clearer now than ever: 👀I want to be known for empowering Black women and enhancing their personal brands. Period. Here’s to growth, collaboration, and forging my own path! 🌱✨#womensupportingwomen #womenbusinessowners #entrepreneurs #csuite#goldmansachs

Where do I begin?I have always said that diversity is easy...it's inclusiveness that's hard. The Wall Street Journal article on how women are leaving Goldman Sachs is so telling. In my leadership talks to businesses, I highlight how inclusivity needs to be a top-down commitment, that CEOs have to do more than just talk about it. The need to ensure that it is embedded in the corporate culture and through trainings, audits, and performance reviews. It has to be seen as important as the corporation's 'hard' drivers, ie new business development , accounting, that keep the company moving forward and thriving. The loss of these women for Goldman is immeasurable. But for the companies that hired them, the gains are priceless. #WomenInTheWorkPlace#InclusiveWorkplaces

Unpacking the “Glass Cliff Effect”: A Reality for Black Women in Leadership The "Glass Cliff Effect" is a phenomenon that occurs all too often, yet is seldom discussed. As Black women, many of us find ourselves thrust into high-stakes leadership roles when a company is already in turmoil. The hope? That we will perform miracles and turn things around. More often than not, we rise to the challenge and succeed. But what happens next is both revealing and troubling. Here’s the typical cycle:1. Crisis Appointment: We are appointed to leadership positions when the company is struggling, with expectations set sky-high.2. Miracle Worker: Despite the odds, we succeed in stabilizing or even rejuvenating the organization.3. Discarded Post-Success: As soon as the company prospers again, we are suddenly deemed unnecessary. The support, power, respect, time, and resources we once had begin to dwindle.4. Systemic Barriers: We are often set up to fail from the start, especially in a culture that may not have previously had a woman—let alone a Black woman—in a leadership role. This is not just a series of isolated incidents; it’s a systemic issue that needs addressing. While any leader might struggle during a crisis, Black women face unique challenges and additional barriers, often without the necessary support to truly succeed. So, what can we do to break this cycle?- Raise Awareness: Let’s talk openly about the Glass Cliff Effect and how it disproportionately affects women of color.- Advocate for Continuous Support: Ensure that Black women in leadership roles receive the ongoing support, resources, and respect they deserve.- Create Inclusive Cultures: Foster an organizational culture that values diversity and inclusion at all levels, not just in times of crisis.- Mentorship and Sponsorship: Encourage mentorship and sponsorship programs that help underrepresented leaders navigate and thrive in their roles. It’s time for companies to recognize that diversity and inclusion are not just crisis management tools but essential components of long-term success. Let’s commit to creating a more equitable and supportive environment for all leaders, especially Black women.#GlassCliff #BlackWomenLead #DiversityAndInclusion #Leadership #EquityInLeadership #BreakingBarriers #InclusiveWorkplace

Women in leadership are reaching a level of success that is not only exceptional but highlights novel approaches to old business problems and identification of new market opportunities. The women named to the inaugural CNBC Changemakers list are creating a pattern of what it takes to defy the odds, innovate and thrive in a volatile business landscape.Make no mistake: There is still a distinct need for more coverage of innovative women leaders, and more support from the capital markets. Women leaders are still rare — they’re less than 10% of S&P 500 CEOs, while women founders draw about 2% of venture capital dollars.By focusing on women who left an indelible mark on the economy and business world in 2023, CNBC Changemakers recognizes the accomplishments of names in the news and many who have flown under the radar. To make the list, nominees were evaluated on five broad categories: results of the achievement in 2023; influence of the individual woman leader; reach of the company/organization, representation, and experience. And with over 700 nominations, competition to make the cut was fierce.CNBC International is featuring the nine women on the 50-strong list leading businesses outside the United States. Here is how they made waves in 2023.#CNBCChangemakersFind out more here:https://cnb.cx/3UXHYlk
